Although being part of the midwest and probably the butt of many jokes about being backwards, Indiana actually has many ties with high technology and has recently started an effort to emerge as a leader in many high tech fields.

• Indiana was one of the first two states to have complete satelite coverage of the entire state on maps.google.com, the other state was Massachusetts.
• Many of the nations biggest Internet backbones run through Indiana with access points around the state.
